Questions Readers Ask Us

Practical answers about how we select artists, what we cover, and how you can use the magazine as a starting point for your own collection or studio practice.

How do you choose the artists and studios featured in each edition?

We look for creators whose work carries a clear point of view, whether they are showing in a small gallery or building a name through open studio events. Our editors visit studios, attend exhibition openings, and follow graduate shows. We prefer artists who can talk about their process with honesty, not just their latest series.

Is the magazine aimed only at experienced collectors?

Not at all. A large part of our readership is just starting out. We include buying guides, notes on how to read a gallery price list, and interviews that explain the practical side of commissioning a piece. If you have never bought art before, you will find the language plain and the steps concrete.

Do you cover interior design beyond gallery walls?

Yes. We regularly publish features on private apartments, restored studios, and homes where art and furniture share the same logic. The focus is on how original pieces live in real rooms, not on staged showroom perfection. We also look at how natural light, material, and scale change the way a work reads.

Can I suggest an artist or a studio for a future edition?

We welcome recommendations from readers. Send us a short note with the artist's name, a link to their portfolio, and why you think their work deserves attention. We read every message, though we can only respond to the ones we decide to pursue for an upcoming issue.

How often do you publish new content?

We release a new edition every month, with smaller studio notes and exhibition reviews appearing in between. Each issue is built around a central theme, such as materiality, scale, or the relationship between art and domestic space. You can find the full archive under the resources section.

Do you offer advice for students of art and design?

We do, mostly through essays and interviews that examine how established artists structure their days, handle rejection, and fund their early projects. We also publish practical pieces on portfolio building and how to approach a gallery for the first time. It is not a career service, but it is grounded in real experience.
