Before you dive into the profiles and studio notes, here are the working definitions and boundaries we use across the magazine. They keep the conversation honest, whether you are a curator, a gallerist, or an artist reading for reference.

What we mean by "emerging artist"We use the term for practitioners within their first decade of independent practice, regardless of age or academic pedigree. The label is descriptive, not evaluative. Editorial vs. commercial coverageEditorial pieces are written without commission. Commercial mentions are always flagged in the footer of the article, so you can tell the difference at a glance. How we handle attributionEvery studio visit and review credits the artist, the photographer, and the space. If a detail cannot be verified, we say so rather than guessing. Submission boundariesWe accept pitches from artists and writers, but we do not publish unsolicited promotional copy. Pitches are read for process, not for product placement. Corrections policyIf a factual error appears, we publish a correction within the same article and note the date of the change. No silent edits after publication.
